A: As a UK distributer of the Prime Engineering products, we are able to offer and supply all of their current product range. Unfortunately, however, we are not able to offer the Kid Walk at this time. Please see the Prime Engineering website for more information about their other products.
Q: How often should I be using my standing frame?
A: Research suggests that 5 times a week for 1 hour at a time is the optimum, but this should be lead by your condition and your Physio's recommendations. We suggest that you start off slowly and build up over a number of weeks.
Q: Do you offer any support?
A: We offer a 24hr telephone support service. We are also able to visit your address, if necessary. Please note that for non-warranty related visits, there is a call out charge for site visits.
Q: Can the frame be adjusted / changed just for me?
A: All of our frames that are for personal use, are adjusted and made bespoke for each client using a range of different supports, slings, footplates and pads to suit all needs. The frame is adjusted in conjunction with the client's Physio and their professional assessment of the client's individual needs.
Q: Can we buy a frame PRIVATELY?
A: Yes. Frames are available to purchase by private individuals although you will need to have been referred by a Physiotherapist and we will carry out a joint assessment with your Physio prior to purchase. Please contact us for a further discussion if you are looking to purchase privately.
Q: What is the lifespan of the frames?
A: As per the warranty, although the frames have been supplied in the UK for the last 15 years and many of these are still being used today.
Q: Is it difficult to use the frame safely?
A: Not at all. As part of the delivery, we will set up the frame for you and train you and your family/carers how to use the equipment safely. It is as easy as putting the sling in place correctly and attaching the sling followed by pressing a button or pumping a lever.
Q: I have a Granstand, What happens if the battery goes flat whilst I am standing?
A: Don't worry, there are 2 emergency lowering systems. The first will lower you down using much less power and so is useful when the battery only has a little power left. The second is an emergency pull switch and will lower you safely down using no power.
Q: How long does it take to get my frame once funding has been agreed?
A: We usually deliver within 3-4 weeks from the funding agreement. This can, however, take longer if we have to make special adjustments or if there are specific parts which have been designed and shipped from America.
Q: How is the battery charged, and how often should it be charged?
A: The battery has its own stand alone charging unit which easily lifts from the frame and is then placed onto the charging unit. When the charging light goes out, it is ready for use and can be placed back onto the frame. The battery can be left on charge, if required, and will not over-charge. The battery will last approximately 20 stands between charges.
